Jim Hendricks Concert

September 28th: Pianist Jim Hendricks began intriguing musicians and family members as a child with the uncanny ability to play anything he heard on records and memorize any printed music that came across the piano. Since then, Jim has performed over 1,000 Christian piano concerts in churches all across the land.

Welcome Back Sunday:
Welcome Back Sunday will be on September 7th!  This is a day that we CLC’ers make a special effort to attend worship and it is always a special day.  Sunday Church School also begins anew that day with a great opening at 9:15 a.m.  The theme for this year’s Welcome Back Sunday is “Celebrating Discipleship.”

Sunday School:
Our Sunday School program begins this year on September 7th at 9:15 a.m. All students, teachers, and parents will assemble in Weaver Hall that morning for a registration period, a brief welcome and introduction of teachers and the distribution of the Children’s Bibles for 3 year olds through second grade. Then everyone will be dismissed to their classes for a personal ‘meet and greet’ with the teachers. We offer classes for ages 3 through adulthood. Come join the fun as we learn of the grace of God through Jesus Christ.

Attention Confirmands and Parents:

Confirmation is fast approaching and all students in 7th through 10th grades are to come to an initiation meeting on Sunday, September 14th at 7:00 p.m. in Weaver Hall. Confirmation classes begin for 7th through 9th grade students on Wednesday, September 17th from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Weaver Hall and for 10th grade students on Sunday, September 21st during the Sunday School hour; 9:15 a.m.

Volunteer Ministry Opportunities for You!

The collaboration between The Shepherd’s Shelf, The Indian Valley Mennonite Church, and The Food Trust Vegetable Basket Program will resume this July.  Local gardeners and members of Indian Valley Mennonite Church will grow and donate surplus produce to local food cupboards.

Volunteers are needed to pick up produce once a week.
Volunteers are needed on Wednesday nights during the summer months from 6:30 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. to help with distribution of food to clients.

The supports on the shelves in the basement must be varnished per the Montgomery County Health Department.  Volunteers are needed ASAP to complete this project before our next inspection!

Are you available during the day?  Do you have a flexible schedule? Are you able to carry boxes of food to the basement? If you answered yes to these questions, God is calling you! The shepherd’s shelf receives several monthly deliveries of food.  On the second Thursday or Friday of the month, depending on surplus food availability, we receive a USDA bulk shipment.  We also receive a monthly delivery from our wholesale distributor, Karetas Foods; dates and times vary.

Corresponding Secretary Needed:  to write thank you notes and letters for donations made.

If you are able to help in any way, please contact Lois Kadel at 215-256-4336 or at Shepherd's Shelf.

Outdoor Worship Service:
August 31st at 9:30 a.m. we will have an outdoor worship service on the softball field.  It will be preceded by a continental breakfast at 9:00 a.m.  Canopies will be provided for comfort from the sun.

It is the mission of Christ Lutheran Church to witness through Word and Sacrament to God's declaration in Jesus that all humanity and all creation matter to God.
