The Shepherd’s
Shelf is an emergency
food pantry that was begun by
Christ Lutheran Church in April
2003 in response to a marked
increase in requests for financial
assistance from residents of
the surrounding communities.
Currently operating under the
auspices of Christ Lutheran
Church and located on the church
office premises, Shepherd’s
Shelf distributes canned and
boxed food and basic household
items according to need and
without regard to religious
affiliation or beliefs. Patrons
of the Shepherd’s Shelf are
never questioned about their
religion nor are they pressured
in any way to become members
of this or any other church.
The parent organization, Christ
Lutheran Church, was founded
in 1833 and is located at 2211
Sumneytown Pike in Kulpsville,
Pennsylvania. It is a member
of the Evangelical Lutheran
Church of America.

SHEPHERD's SHELF NEWS:
J is for July, Jelly, Jam, and Jell-O
I love alliteration! So this is a great way to remember what we are collecting in July! Because of changes in items CADCOM will pay for, we can no longer purchase jelly through our wholesale distributor. We will be collecting jelly and jam to go with our peanut butter! Always a favorite with the kids! Also, we will collect Jell-O (there's always room for Jell-O!) Your donations can be left in Weaver Hall, in the Annex distribution area or in the breezeway. Please be sure to mark your donations for The Shepherd's Shelf!
Looking ahead to September
We are collecting school supplies for our Shepherd's Shelf kids again this year. We need backpacks, notebooks, paper, pens, pencils, crayons, calculators, book covers, and duo-tang folders. Avoid the rush and begin to set aside items now! As always, our Shepherd's Shelf families thank you for all of your support!
For the past few years The Shepherd’s Shelf has provided Thanksgiving Baskets to families in need. With the increasing number of those needing assistance, the amount of food, (in addition to gifts for children), is growing exponentially. The Social Action Leadership Team has volunteered to host a Thanksgiving Dinner in lieu of dinner baskets this year. Many members helped in the past with the community Thanksgiving meals and we need your help again! Please watch for more information in This Week and The Clarion as we get closer to Fall. (The Shepherd’s Shelf Ministry Team will provide Christmas dinner baskets and gifts for children - watch for opportunities to help!)
