Children and Youth

“....from childhood you have known the sacred writings that are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:15–17

Special Celebrations for Sunday School Students
First Holy Communion
First Holy Communion instruction is offered to all 5th graders. Instruction is led by Pastor Shelor and Karolin Brechbill and will be scheduled in the spring.
Students receive their First Holy Communion on Holy Thursday at the evening worship service.
Confirmation
Currently, Confirmation Classes are held on the second Sundays of each month from 10:45 am-11:45 am, September-May. Occasionally, we will be traveling off-site (rather than holding traditional class). Confirmation is a two-year program for students 12 years and up (parents and students can choose to begin instruction either in 7th or 8th grade). Eligible students will be confirmed on the Pentecost Sunday of their second year of instruction. Confirmation Instruction is currently led by the Director of Faith Formation, Karolin Brechbill.
Pentecost Sunday is May 24, 2026.

CLC’s Safe Place Policy
All volunteers and paid staff associated with children and/or youth of CLC are screened utilizing PA State Police Criminal Background Check and the PA State Child Abuse Background Check. Volunteers and staff are screened before they have interaction with the children, and then once every 60 months as per the PA State Laws, for the duration of their services. Paid staff are required to undergo FBI fingerprint screening as well, within the first month of their employment.
