Thank you for your interest in hosting a food drive for Shepherd’s Shelf!  Last year, we distributed over $600,000 of food. Food drives are an essential part of that distribution and a great way for community members of all ages to get involved. 

Food Drive Tips

• advertise - makes sure to advertise on social media as well as hang signs at the food drive’s location or in the community

• checking food - while date checking and/or sorting food is not required, it can be helpful to the pantry, especially if you are having a large food drive. We accept items that are up to 6 months past their best buy date.

• heavy boxes - please makes sure boxes and bags are not too heavy. Boxes of canned goods get heavy fast and are not always easy for our volunteers to move. Depending on box size, one or two rows of canned goods should be the max.

We are here to help! We have

• signage - see below for a link to printable signs for your food drive

• boxes - we can supply boxes if needed, make sure to let us know how many you need. Grocery stores and liquor stores are also great places to ask for boxes.

• needs list - our list is updated regularly, so please make sure to check the list close to your food drive so you get the most up to date information.
